April Howsam is a minor character in Invincible, debuting from Season 2 and onwards.
She is a special child caretaker working for the Global Defense Agency.
Appearance[]
April is a middle-aged woman with straight chin-length blonde hair styled in a bob cut with a middle part. She has light brown eyes and prominent blonde eyebrows. She wears a light red long-sleeved cardigan over a plain white undershirt, beige capri pants, brown loafers, and brown bowline glasses.
Personality[]
April is loyal, open, and honest. She appears both trustworthy and questionable at the same time, as she is seen taking excellent care of Oliver Grayson and answered Debbie truthfully regarding her affiliation with the GDA. However, this self-admission of being a possible spy coupled with her insistence that she worked for Debbie and not Cecil calls her true loyalty in question.

Little is known about April's past, except she enlisted in the Global Defense Agency as a caretaker to help kids and teenagers with special abilities.
Meeting the Graysons[]
When Invincible returned from Thraxa, he revealed to Debbie that Omni-Man had fathered another child with a Thraxan woman. As Thraxan lifespans typically lasted only one human year, this meant the child would age more quickly, and possibly with powers inherited from his father. Cecil recommends Grayson family find a special babysitter for Mark's brother, preferably from the GDA, but Mark denies the recommendation, saying it is their decision to make.
At first, the GDA supposedly sent an elderly European woman named Helga, but Debbie denied her, accusing her of being one of Cecil's spies. After sending Helga away, April knocked on the door moments later. Despite being told not to, April freely admitted to Debbie she was a member of the GDA, though only wanted to help kids with special talents, admitting there are very little tutors with her skills and experience. April promised to work for Debbie, not Cecil, and declared Debbie the boss in their relationship.
Caring for Oliver[]
As part of her duty, she is taking care of Oliver and remarking that his progression is much faster than any child she had ever worked with before.
As Oliver quickly grew up, April continued to teach him by testing his memory and promising him that he go could out and play if he succeeded. Oliver indeed passed April tests and though she joked with him a little, she proceeded to let Oliver go outside now that his lessons were done for the day.
Invincible War[]
April was hiding in what appeared to be a G.D.A. bunker during the Invincible War, watching a news broadcast of the event from a computer monitor.

Trivia[]
- April looks different in the comics compared to the show. In the comics, her hair is curlier (especially at the ends), she wears red earrings, has much less prominent eyebrows, and wears a set of rectangular black wireframe glasses. Her white undershirt is also a collared button-down shirt. However, April also appears wearing other outfits later in the comics which have thus far not appeared in the show.
