Appearance[]

Aquarus, as all other Atlanteans, appears as an anthropomorphic fish, sporting fins growing out from his back and arms. His skin color is also predominantly blue. He would only usually wear what seemed to be a piece of Atlantean equipment as clothing, the armor would be a mix of green and white with yellow outlines surrounding it. Like all the other Guardians, Aquarus wore a piece of equipment resembling a wristband that would signal an alert anytime him or any of the other Guardians were needed in action.

Personality[]

Aquarus seemed to only be in the Guardians as a way to have some fun, seen from his excitement of getting an alert from Guardians HQ. He would also be mostly neglectful of his people, usually busy with Guardians business while his wife would continue to rule the kingdom. Despite his flaws, he still was a good person, caring deeply for his comrades, being in shock after seeing what Omni-Man had done to his friends.

History[]

Background Information[]

Aquarus was born as an Atlantean, he went on to rule the kingdom along with his wife Queen Aquaria. As the king of Atlantis, he would regularly go out to protect his underwater nation which eventually led him to join the Guardians of the Globe. As a Guardian, he would primarily focus on more land-based activity, not really paying any attention to his own kingdom which caused Aquaria to run it most of the time.

Aquarus, like the other members of the Guardians of the Globe, first appeared in the Pilot episode, to protect the President from a sudden attack by the Mauler Twins. When one of the Twins attempted to breach the White House, Aquarus worked alongside Martian Man, where both heroes combined their efforts in order to hurl an APC into one of the Twins, preventing him from entering the White House. Aquarus and Martian Man then proceeded to enter the White House, splitting up in the process to clear the area more effectively.

Aquarus waited with the other heroes in their HQ for the last Guardian, Darkwing to arrive for their meeting. However, when Darking arrived and noted that he hadn't signaled the alert, the heroes realized they have all been tricked, and kept their guard up. Suddenly, Omni-Man appears attempting to punch The Immortal, who was narrowly saved by Red Rush.

Aquarus, like all other Guardians, was surprised that Omni-Man was attacking them, but soon began fighting to defend themselves. Aquarus managed to momentarily hold Omni-Man in place with a hydroblast, but Omni-Man managed to break free and promptly leapt at Aquarus in an attempt to crush him, but Red Rush quickly moved him out of Omni-Man's way. Aquarus and the other Guardians then witnessed Omni-Man grabbing Red Rush by the head, and in spite of their attempts to save their colleague, they could do nothing but watch in utter horror as Omni-Man eventually crushed Red Rush's head between his hands.

In the bloody aftermath in the Guardians HQ, the Global Defense Agency breached the room and brought in paramedics in an attempt to save lives. The paramedics team assigned to treat Aquarus applied an aqueous sealant to his body, presumably in an attempt to heal or resuscitate him, to no avail. During the Guardian of the Globes Memorial, Aquarus' name was mentioned in Omni-Man's eulogy, along with the names of his deceased colleagues. On the Guardians' funeral, other members of his species are present, one of them being his spouse, Queen Aquaria.

His corpse is later seen along with Darkwing's, Green Ghost's, and Red Rush's during the Immortal's recovery of past events of his life.

Comic Differences[]

Aquarus Comics

Aquarus' design in the comics.

  • As a character, Aquarus mostly stays faithful to the comics, however like the rest of the guardians, he is fleshed out a bit more right before his death.
  • Aquarus's design is altered a bit from the comics, as he was originally more muscular compared to the show.
    • His costume colors are also different, as in the comics his costume originally consisted of two black sides, with a long white line in the middle.
    • His eyes were also predominantly more yellow in the comics, although there are some panels where his eyes are white.
  • His death is slightly different in the comics as he would get his face smashed with Red Rush's in comparison to the show where his face would get smashed in by War Woman's mace.

Trivia[]

  • Aquarus is based on Aquaman and Namor from the DC Comics and Marvel Comics. Much like the latter two, he is an underwater themed superhero, able to breathe beneath the sea, withstand immense pressure and is the king of an undersea version of the lost realm of Atlantis.
    • The parody aspect lies in the fact that while Aquaman and Namor could pass off as human beings with ease, and both are often perceived as being highly attractive, Aquarus is an anthropomorphic fish.
  • Aquarus was the fourth person to die at the hands of Omni-Man.
