Argall is the posthumous overarching antagonist of Invincible.
He was the first and still is the most revered Emperor of the Viltrum Empire; his reign is widely considered as the "Golden Age of Viltrum".
Appearance
Possibly the same build as Thaedus and sported the traditional Viltrumite mustache, and may have carried the large fur coat that the Grand Regent does.
Personality
In contrast to his regent successor, Argall consistently prioritized the importance of wisdom over mere physical power, which resulted in the advancement of Viltrumite civilization; for that reason, he garnered the everlasting love, respect, and loyalty of his people. Nevertheless, this did not prevent him from being a staunch advocate of social Darwinism; he was as insightful as he was malicious toward those he considered weak.
Powers and Abilities
Powers
- Viltrumite Physiology: As a Viltrumite, Argall is an advanced being with extremely potent and well-developed genetics. From this, he eventually manifested a wide array of abilities common among his race, each of which would steadily continue to grow more powerful as he aged. At the same time, ranking among the elites of his race, Argall's powers are noted to be significantly more advanced than most others. Additionally, his ancestry is regarded as the strongest and most untainted among all Viltrumites throughout history.
- Decelerated Aging: Argall possesses an extraordinarily lifespan. This stems from his body gradually aging slower the longer he lives. From this, it allows him to retain his health, vitality, conditioning, performance, and youthful appearance that much longer.
- Dominant Genes: Argall's genetics are so potent, he can reproduce with almost any other race and his genetics will almost completely overshadow the inherit genetics of the mate, making said offspring almost purely Viltrumite themselves. Likewise, the more naturally compatible the genetics are to the mate's race, the sooner and more likely the offspring will inherit all the standard Viltrumite abilities.
- Flight: Argall can levitate himself in the air and propel himself in any direction he desires, able to alter his trajectory mid-flight, letting him maneuver seamlessly through various environments. He is also able to fly through space.
- Nigh-Invulnerability: Argall's body is incredibly resilient, allowing him to withstand a wide range of attacks without sustaining any significant harm. He is unfazed by virtually any environment, or lack thereof. He can walk away unscathed from explosions, bullets, and even powerful energy-based assaults.
- Reactive Adaptation: Argall has a propensity for continual growth and improvement throughout his lifespan. His physical strength, speed, and durability progressively augment in correlation with the level of adversity he faces or the severity of injuries he recovers from. Moreover, his combat experience fosters an innate ability to assimilate knowledge and insights from past encounters, enabling him to gradually refine his tactics and enhance his efficiency in subsequent engagements.
- Enhanced Healing Factor: Argall's body can recover from injuries in a day, if not mere minutes. He can restore broken bones, torn muscles, and damaged organs; he can even regrow lost anatomy with no lingering signs. This varies based on the severity of the injury. Likewise, he is virtually immune to almost all forms of illness and contamination.
- Superhuman Lung Capacity: Argall possesses the remarkable physiological ability to sustain his breath for extended periods of time, spanning several weeks. This allows him to endure the harshness of space unprotected and make interstellar travel.
- Superhuman Senses: Argall possesses an exceptional auditory perception far surpassing human capabilities, allowing him to discern sounds emanating from considerable distances and selectively drown out specific noises.
- Superhuman Speed: Argall can move at tremendous speed, able to travel anywhere in the world in mere minutes if not seconds. His reflexes and reaction time likewise operate at similar speeds.
- Superhuman Stamina: Argall can sustain physical exertion for prolonged periods of time without showing any signs of exhaustion. He can likewise endure some of the most grievous of injuries that would instantly kill a human. He can go for several weeks without sleep or sustenance unhindered.
- Superhuman Strength: Argall's strength extends to the ability to lift and press several tons, making him a powerhouse in combat situations. This strength allows him to go toe-to-toe with formidable foes.
Abilities
- Leadership: As the first Emperor, he effectively ruled the Viltrumites for thousands of years; bringing an unrivaled golden age in Viltrum's history, before his unanticipated death.
- Master Combatant: As the leader of the Viltrumites, Argall's combatant skills were most needed to be among the best of his people.
Weaknesses
- Excessively High Frequency: High-frequency noise can have harmful effects on the ears of Viltrumites. It disturbs their balance, restricts their flying capability, induces severe pain, and could potentially lead to their death. The frequency's intensity dictates the degree of pain felt.
- Extreme Force: Even though Viltrumites rank among the universe's mightiest, they are not entirely invincible. Viltrumites are vulnerable to entities with comparable or superior strength.

Trivia
- Argall is the first named Viltrumite character to be deceased in the series.
- As his physical appearance never appears in the comics. But his physical appearance debutted in the last issue of Invincible comics.
- Argall could be based on The Fallen of the Transformers franchise:
- Both are the founders of their factions.
- Both are worshipped and inspired by their proteges and followers in some way.
- Both were the most powerful figures in the series at the time.
- Both were defeated or killed prior to the evolution of their empires.
- Interestingly enough, in the 2009 film, Revenge of the Fallen, The Fallen was killed by Optimus Prime who was played by Peter Cullen, known for playing Thadeus, the assassin of Argall and in Transformers One The Fallen (Megatronus) was killed by Sentinel Prime was played by Jon Hamm.
- Argall's appearance was foreshadowed by Nolan who mentioned "his parents". Mark's grandparents were killed, though their names and causes of death are unknown.
- During the Great Purge Flashback, a brief statue was seen, possibly Argall.
- Argall presumably had a wife, because after his death. His son was born.
- It is secretly foreshadowed that Viltrumite Executioner 1 comments that they will investigate Nolan's linage during the execution. They almost find out that Nolan was the son of Argall.
- It is possible that Frank Welker (the voice actor of Megatron) could voice Argall in the future, as Peter Cullen (the voice actor of Optimus Prime) voiced Thaedus.
