—Invincible poking fun at the Vigilante's name.
A Bat-Caped Vigilante with a strange resemblance to Darkwing and a bat motif patrols the streets of a certain city from another world.
History[]
Little is known about the Caped Vigilante's backstory, but it is known that at one point he adapted a bat motif after starting his acts of vigilantism at night.
One day, a portal from another dimension opened up, with it the arrival of another superhero from that world, Invincible. The two have a conversation about his name's originality. Despite this little argument, it is implied that the Vigilante helped the inter-dimensional hero find another portal to return to his reality.
Trivia[]
- The Caped Vigilante is very obviously a stand-in for the DC character Batman.[1]
- During his brief cameo, the song playing in the background is quite similar to Danny Elfman's 1989 Batman theme.
- Batman had actually appeared as a cameo character in Issue #33 of the Invincible comic series, which I Thought You Were Stronger adapts. Because of legal issues, he was replaced by the Caped Vigilante.

That’s a completely different bat character that Mark is referring to. If the audience is inferring a certain thing from it, I don’t have control over that. The audience gets to take from it what they will, but it was never our intention to imply anything remotely close to the Batman character." -Robert Kirkman, S2 finale Variety interview
