Life, on this plane, is only a distraction.
—Forcefist in "A Deal With The Devil".

Forcefist is one of the minor antagonist in Invincible. He, along with his wife Knucklebuster, made up The Order of the Freeing Fist and were enemies of Cecil Stedman. The duo operated as terrorists seeking to tear down modern society and end industrialization.

Appearance[]

Forcefist was a tall adult man with light skin, sandy-blond hair reaching down to his nape and blue eyes. He had a muscular, mid-weight physique, with pronounced abdominal and pectoral muscles. His wardrobe consisted of a dark blue leotard with elbow length sleeves, a V-line extending to his naval region and leg covering extended just above his heels. He also sported a red bandana, concealing his forehead, scalp, but with an opening for his hair. Finishing his costume were a pair of red fingerless gloves, red boots, a red sash and a black strap around his right thigh. The Order of the Freeing Fist emblem, a white winged skull, was located on his chest.

Personality[]

Forcefist was a fanatical humanist extremist who opposed industrial life. Both him and his wife proved to be delusional, believing that through mass murder and chaos humanity would relinquish modern society for a more optimal way of life. To that end, the two attempted to release a flesh killing bio-weapon upon a city, in hopes that others would learn from their example. As the gas began to peel away at their skin, neither of them seemed to mind the pain, but rather accepted it, highlighting their resolve.

After having his body refitted with new skin, Forcefist had been recruited into the GDA. Radcliffe believed that he and Knucklebuster had been fully rehabilitated while under his supervision, willing to help the GDA with its operations. This turn over was never fully explored, however, given the pair had been shot to death before they could demonstrate any sincerity.

History[]

Background Information[]

More than two decades prior from Invincible's time, the man known as Forcefist, and his wife Knucklebuster, were the Order of the Freeing Fist. The order sought to abolish modern society that dependent on industrial innovation while neglecting the human body. Together they planned to release a deadly gas in a densely populated city, killing thousands and inspiring others across the world to enact similar revolutions. But GDA operative Cecil Stedman had found their hideout, a new-age clothing store, and alerted the agency of the gas. Forcefist and his wife fought Stedman for a short while before hearing the sirens of the authorities. Without a moment of hesitation the duo released the gas, which almost immediately began tearing away at their skin tissue. This plan was stopped in time by the GDA, but not without killing seventeen civilians and leaving Stedman horribly mutilated.

Joining the GDA[]

Forcefist and Knucklebuster were somehow reformed after this event by Radcliffe, head of the GDA, and joined the GDA as support for other field agents. During a raid on a government building by the Lizard League member Komodo Dragon, the Order of the Freeing Fist jumped in and saved both Radcliffe and a fully healed agent Stedman from the supervillain. And although Radcliffe tried ensuring Stedman that the duo were now operating alongside them Cecil could not forgive them for their past action. Cecil pulled out his gun and shot Forcefist and Knucklebuster in the head, killing them.

Legacy[]

Cecil's actions against Forcefist and Knucklebuster would shape him into the man seen throughout the rest of his career. After killing the order Cecil had been sent to a supervillain prison for a three year sentence. Despite the odds he was able to take control of all the other inmates and reduce the murders taking place inside the prison. Stedman is approached by Radcliffe, who offers him his position as head of the GDA do to the results of his methods. Stedman accepts to take his place despite some lingering hesitance. Ultimately, it was the actions of Forcefirst and Knucklebuster which indirectly set Stedman on the path to becoming the hardened commander of the current time. Stedman learned from these encounters to not take people and situations at face value and to prepare safety measures even if it meant recruiting and rehabilitating supervillains, mad scientists, weaponizing monsters, spying on superheroes, exiling informants, and even implanting weapons inside his most powerful superpowered operatives.

Olympic Level Strength and Agility: Forcefist exhibited intense human strength, agility and reflexes. Despite still being human he could inflict, alongside Knucklebuster, enough damage to knock the superhuman Komodo Dragon unconscious.

Abilities[]

Master Martial Artist: From what little was shown Forcefist appeared to be trained in hand to hand combat, combining powerful punches and kicks with nimble movement. He could avoid attacks from Komodo Dragon while landing several of his own.

Weaknesses[]

Human Level Damage: Despite his impressive physical condition and training Forcefist was ultimately a regular human being who could be incapacitated and killed through extreme force.
