Personality
Kregg is portrayed as a highly pragmatic and level-headed Viltrumite. Unlike more brutal and bloodthirsty members of the empire, such as Conquest, Kregg conducts himself as a soldier rather than a warrior driven by personal aggression. He exhibits a degree of reason and diplomacy, attempting to persuade Mark that subjugating Earth would ultimately spare its population from unnecessary suffering. While not overtly compassionate, Kregg demonstrates an understanding of Mark’s emotional conflict, recognizing the burden of being born and raised on Earth. Notably, he refrains from criticizing or belittling Mark’s human heritage, rather than interacting with him in a calm and tactical manner.
Kregg recognizes Nolan's worth, referring to him as one of the empire's greatest warriors, and is prepared to offer him an opportunity to prove himself to the empire. Nonetheless, in spite of these assessed characteristics, Kregg remains a manifestation of the Viltrumite Empire’s brutal philosophy. He can be ruthlessly vengeful, as demonstrated when he brutally attacked Nolan prior to his planned execution and previously erupted at a badly wounded Mark merely for attempting to curse him. These instances emphasize that while Kregg might be more empathetic than others, he is still devoted to the empire’s brutal doctrine and will not shy away from using violence to impose them when confronted.
Powers and Abilities
Powers
- Viltrumite Physiology: As a Viltrumite, Kregg is an advanced being with extremely potent and well-developed genetics. From this, he eventually manifested a wide array of abilities common among the race, each of which will only steadily continue growing more powerful as he ages.
- Decelerated Aging: Kregg possesses an exceptionally prolonged lifespan due to his biology, which causes him to age increasingly slower over time. This decelerated aging allows him to maintain peak health, physical conditioning, and combat performance far beyond the natural limits of most beings
- Dominant Genes: Viltrumites genetics are incredibly potent and adaptive. Kregg, like others of his kind, can reproduce with a wide range of species, with his Viltrumite DNA overwhelmingly asserting itself in the offspring. As a result, the child will typically inherit predominantly Viltrumite traits, often appearing and functioning almost entirely as a Viltrumite. The more genetically compatible the mate’s species is, the faster and more reliably the offspring will manifest the full range of standard Viltrumite abilities.
- Flight: Due to a complex balancing system located in his inner ears, Kregg possesses the ability to levitate and propel himself in the air, able to alter his trajectory mid-flight and maneuver seamlessly through various environments. His control enables effortless navigation through a wide range of settings and outer space.
- Superhuman Strength: Kregg possesses incredible physical strength, easily capable of lifting and pressing several tons.
- Nigh-Invulnerability: Kregg possesses extraordinary durability, making his body highly resistant to a wide range of physical and energy-based attacks. He could withstand explosions, bullets, and other devastating forces without sustaining significant harm.
- Superhuman Speed: Kregg can move at immense velocities, capable of traversing the globe in mere minutes. His enhanced reflexes and reaction time make him a formidable opponent in high-speed combat situations.
- Reactive Adaptation: Kregg has a propensity for continual growth and improvement throughout his lifespan. His physical strength, speed, and durability progressively augment in correlation with the level of adversity he faces or the severity of injuries he recovers from. Moreover, his combat experience fosters an innate ability to assimilate knowledge and insights from past encounters, enabling him to gradually refine his tactics and enhance him efficiency in subsequent engagements.
- Regenerative Healing Factor: Kregg possesses an incredible healing factor, allowing his body to recover from injuries in mere minutes or, at most, within a few days. His regenerative abilities enable him to heal broken bones, torn muscles, damaged organs, and even regrow lost body parts without any lasting effects. This healing ability is highly dependent on the severity of the injury. Additionally, Kregg is virtually immune to most illnesses and contaminants. However, after being infected by the Scourge Virus, his regeneration was severely compromised, he was unable to regrow his right eye and was blinded. Eventually, he overcame the virus and received a red cybernetic prosthetic to replace his lost eye.
- Superhuman Senses: Kregg possesses extraordinary sensory abilities, far exceeding human limitations. His auditory perception allows him to hear sounds from great distances with incredible clarity, enabling him to detect even the faintest noises and selectively ignore irrelevant ones. His vision is equally advanced, providing him with the ability to see distant objects with the same sharpness and detail as though they were right in front of him. Additionally, his heightened equilibrium and balance grant him exceptional poise and stability, allowing him to maintain control and coordination in even the most difficult situations.
- Superhuman Lung Capacity: Kregg possesses an extraordinary lung capacity, allowing him to survive without air for extended periods. This ability enables him to operate unhindered in oxygen-deprived environments, such as the vacuum of space without protection.
- Self-Substance: Viltrumites possess an extraordinary ability to go without food for extended periods, though the exact duration is not well documented. As a result, their physical needs are significantly reduced, allowing them to function effectively without regular nourishment. Kregg, like other Viltrumites, experiences minimal requirements for sustenance, enabling him to endure long periods without food without any significant decline in health or vitality.
- Superhuman Stamina: Kregg possesses extraordinary stamina, enabling him to fight for extended periods without fatigue. Like all Viltrumites, his body is engineered for peak endurance, allowing him to continue operating effectively even after suffering severe injuries. He can survive wounds that would be instantly fatal to most beings, as Viltrumites typically only die from catastrophic damage to the heart or brain.
Abilities
- Leadership: As a high-ranking military general, Kregg effectively led the Viltrumite forces for thousands of years, ensuring the empire's campaign would advance and thrive for many eons.
- Master Combatant: Despite being a high-class fighter, he will still rely on his natural Viltrumite abilities to defeat opponents. Kregg is a trained warrior, relying on his millennia of experience, which makes him well-skilled and formidable as a hand-to-hand combatant since he survived the Great Purge.
- Master Tactician: Being a high-ranking general in the Viltrum Empire, he can certainly be regarded as an incredibly skilled strategist and tactician, which has helped him conquer countless worlds for his home world and his people.
- Master Manipulator: To be added...
Equipment
- Cybernetic Eye: Due to the Scourge Virus, Kregg lost his right eye in an accident, and was given surgery to replace his wound, with a red cybernetic prosthetic enhancement.
Weaknesses
- Excessively High Frequency: High-frequency noise can have harmful effects on the ears of Viltrumites. It disturbs their balance, restricts their flying capability, induces severe pain, and could potentially lead to their death. The frequency's intensity dictates the degree of pain felt.
- Extreme Force: Even though Viltrumites rank among the universe's mightiest, they are not entirely invincible. Viltrumites are vulnerable to entities with comparable or superior strength.
- Scourge Virus: Developed from Viltrumite DNA, the virus targets Viltrumites by compromising their immune systems, diminishing, if not deactivating, their strength, invulnerability, and healing powers. Likewise, any injuries that improperly heal while the Viltrumite's powers remain impaired by the virus will become the permanent default of their health even after their powers return. The sole method of survival is by having a uniquely strong immune system and patiently waiting for the virus to run its course.

Trivia
- Kregg is based of off Jax-Ur from the DC Comics, his physical appearance bares a resemblance to Alfred Pennyworth and Sinestro, while his title of "General" may be a reference to General Zod, due to similarities of Kryptonians and Viltrumites.
- Jax-Ur and Kregg both are known for their cybernetic eyes, both also tried to force Superman and Invincible into their forces.
- He is the second character to be voiced by Clancy Brown, the first one was Damien Darkblood.
- In the comics, Kregg is the most sympathetic Viltrumite.
- Since he was active during the time of the Great Purge, Kregg is older than Nolan, as the latter was born after the purge was complete.
- His name "Kregg" is pronounced the same as the German word "krieg", which translates as "war." As such, the character's name exemplifies his position in the military as well as being part of a warrior race.
- The term "Krieg" would also be used in another Amazon Prime series: Vox Machina, where a character named Brimscythe, disguised himself as "General Krieg" serving as a member of a war council against various foes.
