Midnight City is an American city that appears in Invincible. The dark and crime-ridden city had Darkwing as its guardian and hero right up until his death.
History[]
Little is known of Midnight City, but it is known that a villain known as the Midnight Magician cursed it back in 2002 and as a result, it has been in perpetual Midnight ever since. The permanent darkness caused the city to become a virtual no-man's-land with a considerably high crime rate.
Darkwing often fought crime in Midnight City when he was alive, with a well-known deed of his being him stopping two criminals from entering an unknown building for an unknown master. Those same two criminals were later found dead, as Darkwing had not informed anyone of what happened with them prior to his unexpected, brutal murder at the hands of Omni-Man.
Currently, Darkwing's protégé Nightboy took on his late mentor's mantle and became the new main hero of Midnight City.

- Midnight City is obviously based on Gotham City of DC comics.
- Midnight City's perpetual darkness is a nod to how Gotham in Batman The Animated Series was almost always set at night and even adopted a red sky during the New Batman Adventures.
