Prof. Ock is a supervillain from another universe Mark was transported to in his battle with Angstrom Levy. He is one of Agent Spider's nemesises.
History[]
Little is known about Prof. Ock's story. It is known that he is a professor or doctor of some kind, and that at one point he has built himself a giant metal "helmet" with tentacle-like arms to aid in his villainy. He's implied to be one of Agent Spider's nemeses.
During one of his battles with Agent Spider in an alleyway, a portal opened up, causing Invincible, a superhero from another dimension to enter his world and crash against him. Because of his old age and frail appearance, however, Invincible thought that Agent Spider was the villain terrorizing an old man, giving him time to attack him from behind.
It's implied that Agent Spider and Invincible had teamed-up and defeated Prof. Ock shortly after.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Tentacle Helmet: Utilizing his exceptional intellect, Professor Ock has created a groundbreaking helmet that grants him mastery over four mechanical tentacle-like appendages. These versatile extensions serve a multitude of purposes, including medium-range attacks and enhanced mobility. Though not overtly imposing, these appendages possess surprising strength, capable of inflicting slight harm even upon a formidable opponent like Invincible. The helmet's design, reminiscent of an octopus, embraces a thematic connection to its functionality.
- Resilience: Despite enduring a strike from Agent Spider and an unexpected takedown by Invincible, Professor Ock demonstrated resilience by swiftly recovering from the brief incapacitation and resuming the fight.
Abilities[]
- Genius-level Intellect: Prof. Ock is implied to be an actual professor, as well as the inventor of his helmet.
Trivia[]
- Prof. Ock is obviously a stand-in for the Marvel Comics character Doctor Octopus.
- It is possible that his full name is Professor Octopus.
- Prof. Ock was made due to Disney owning the animated rights to Spider-Man which prevented Kirkman from using the titular character and his cast of characters, as a result resorted to create a legally distinct character.
- Even if Marvel had shared his animated rights with Amazon and Kirkman for the episode, I Thought You Were Stronger's runtime is over 45 minutes, which doesn't fall into Sony and Marvel's deal for Spider-Man's animated rights so he wouldn't be allowed to show up anyway.
- Similarly to his nemesis, Doc Ock had made a cameo appearance in Issue #33 of the Invincible comic series, which the episode I Thought You Were Stronger adapts.
