The ReAnimen are creations of the criminal scientist D.A. Sinclair. They are former humans altered by Sinclair into mechanical, zombie-like creatures.
Following his arrest, Sinclair was reformed and enlisted by the G.D.A. to produce an army of ReAnimen to be employed as weapons against the impending danger of the Viltrum Empire. More advanced and stronger versions were developed, utilizing consenting corpses in their production instead of living subjects.
History[]
Background[]
D.A, Sinclair a prized student and later professor of Upstate University, began to develop a god like complex persona to see that all humans should not be allowed with such feelings, thoughts, emotions in order to make the world perfect and disciplined, resulting using human test subjects to implement the ReAnimen project, a super soldier warrior, without the mindset of a human.
An initial working ReAniman was a tipsy college student named Doug Cheston, who was seized by Sinclair and turned into a creature. During Doug’s conversion he sees unfinished ReAnimen hanging from the ceiling and freaks out while Sinclair tells him they were just the prototypes. Doug battled Invincible and almost triumphed until he removed his helmet, exposing his real face. Appalled by his transformation, the cyborg took his own life in a condition of depressive insanity.
Three others, including Rick, who is William's boyfriend, participated in the abduction of William to transform him into another ReAniman. Invincible would later journey into the sewers and fight the three ReAnimen who attempted to down him. He flew out of the water and bashed through a wall and sees the aforementioned prototype ReAnimen and questions what they even are and swears.
It’s revealed that Sinclair is going to start operating on William while Invincible battled all three, which almost led to his demise, until William managed to assist Rick in escaping Sinclair's influence and overcoming the other two. Cecil and the G.D.A. took all three away in the hopes of reversing their modifications.
Used by The GDA[]
During his time in G.D.A. custody, Sinclair produced three more ReAnimen. Cecil stated that they were "Dead soldiers. Serving their country one last time" Their technology could keep Omni-Man at a distance, having previously matched Invincible's power. All three ReAnimen battled against Omni-Man, managing to hold their position for some time. Nevertheless, Omni-Man quickly dispatched them—decapitating one, crushing the skull of another, and tearing the third apart before inserting a probe into its exposed insides. This elicited revulsion from everyone in the GDA and frustration from Sinclair regarding the ruin of his inventions, as he broke a keyboard before being escorted out.

Once Omni-Man departed from Earth, Cecil instructed Sinclair to begin developing thousands of enhanced ReAnimen as a response to the Viltrumites.
Delay[]

In the following months after the "Chicago Incident", Sinclair would remain employed by the G.D.A. and Cecil, assigned with the goal of developing stronger ReAnimen that might be able to compete with or overcome the Viltrumites. Cecil reached out to Sinclair during his tasks when he was informed of the Viltrumite Anissa's arrival by Invincible. Sinclair was focused on the ReAnimen and was irritated by Cecil's interruption, who insisted on asking how many ReAnimen were prepared for deployment, intending to utilize them against Anissa. Although he was initially puzzled, Sinclair promptly clarified that none of the ReAnimen were prepared and that they had settled on a timetable.
Helping the Guardians[]
During the conflict with Doc Seismic, the ReAnimen, along with Darkwing II, arrive to assist the Guardians of the Globe in defeating Doc Seismic and his army.
Turnabout[]
Upgraded ReAnimen with Cecil Stedman.
Upon learning that the ReAnimen and Darkwing II belonged to the G.D.A, Invincible confronted Cecil regarding the matter. Nevertheless, Cecil countered with combative strategies, including dispatching a legion of ReAnimen after Invincible to compel his compliance.
ReAnimen beat Invincible down.
After Cecil disclosed that he had placed a sonic device in his head, Invincible rushed to the Guardians' HQ to ask for assistance from his allies. Soon after Invincible showed up, Cecil and the ReAnimen came as well, trying to make him yield. Upon seeing the scenario, a number of the Guardians decided to help Invincible and started battling the ReAnimen. Invincible and the Guardians fought against waves of these creatures and succeeded in defeating all of them while deactivating Cecil's device as well. Cecil attempted to rationalize his behavior, but this incited a response from Invincible, who threatened Cecil and asserted that he was finished working for him.
After this incident, multiple Guardians began tidying up their HQ from the chaos left by the battle, which included the remains of vanquished ReAnimen. Nonetheless, the experience led several of them to feel disenchanted with Cecil and his methods, like employing the ReAnimen, ultimately opting to leave, while some decided to remain.
Accusing Cecil[]
When Invincible discovered a strange device monitoring him and his family, he quickly deduced that it was connected to Cecil and the G.D.A. Invincible charged into the Pentagon to face his former boss and confronted the ReAnimen, defeating many before being overwhelmed by sonic emitters and captured. When Cecil disclosed that the surveillance equipment was not his, the ReAnimen allowed Invincible to leave, but he departed after assuring Cecil that this was not over.
Invincible War[]
The ReAnimen enter the battle when wicked counterparts of Invincible attack. During the conflict, they manage to eliminate several variants. On day one, the ReAnimen take out Flaxancible using sonic emitters and viciously pummel his remains until Cecil orders them to stop. On the second day, several ReAnimen are brought to the location of Invincible and a wounded Atom Eve to jump Omnivincible and Hoodvincible, allowing the G.D.A. to rush the two heroes to a hospital. The ReAnimen continue to fight the evil variants, with some of them succeeding in overpowering Bulletproofible by breaking his neck.
Advent of Conquest[]
The GDA begins working on turning the Invincible variants into ReAnimen after the war is over.
As Conquest showed up and began fighting Invincible, Cecil swiftly grasped the circumstances. He was justifiably frustrated by the timing of the Viltrumite's arrival, particularly as the world was still healing from the destruction brought on by the Invincible War. Cecil rushed to the labs where Sinclair and a few other researchers were attempting to convert the bodies of Invincible variants into ReAnimen. Regrettably, none of them were ready as researchers were not adequately equipped for this job since the bodies of the Invincible variants were considerably tougher and more difficult to handle than those of ordinary humans. Sinclair described slicing through their muscle tissue as similar to slicing through rock. This circumstance only increased Cecil's frustration.
Following the defeat of Conquest by Invincible and Atom Eve, Cecil contacted Sinclair, who indicated that speeding up the transformation of the Invincible variants into ReAnimen was unfeasible. Cecil emphasized Conquest's power and voiced worry that if he were defeated, it would probably result in more Viltrumites coming, a point Sinclair hesitantly concurred with. He subsequently directed Sinclair to finish the tasks on the Invincible ReAnimen as swiftly as possible, no matter the expense.
