Personality[]

Rick has proven himself to be a kind-hearted individual, who would risk his life to go above and beyond for those in need, as proven when he went up against Sinclair's ReAnimen to protect both Invincible and William.

After finally physically recovering from the damage done to him by Sinclair, Rick had not yet recovered mentally. He began to experience post traumatic stress disorder, along with suicidal tendencies and longer began to see himself the same way as before. It was only when he was consoled by Donald Ferguson, someone who suffered a similar fate as he did, did he began to recover as he found peace that despite all the trauma he underwent, he was able to resist Sinclair's machinations and save those he cared for.

He would show significant improvement and regain a more positive demeanor.

History[]

Sinclair Terror[]

At Upstate University, Mark and Amber Bennett along with William Clockwell greet Rick, who helps them with their bags. They look at Rick and stares at his butt and William mentions it would be a great weekend.

Mark mentions that the place was great and Rick tells them he had arranged for them to see what a biology class looked like. At the biology class presentation D.A. Sinclair walks up to them and tells Rick that he did not belong in a school of idiots. He calls Rick impressive, muscular, assertive, classic alpha male.

On campus, William tells Rick that D.A. Sinclair had been checking him out, which must be normal for him, but Rick says he feels sorry for Sinclair and that he simply needs friends more than anything. Amber asks Mark if he is okay, and he says that he is happy. Rick tells them that they could wander around the campus and they start looking around.

Later when William and Rick, greet them again, all of a sudden, there was an explosion and from it came a cyborg who started attacking people while holding his head. When the cyborg grabs Rick, William throws soda cans at it, so it attacks him instead. Rick walks up to William, who tells them he is in shock. Rick hugs him, thanking him for having saved him, which William likes.

He goes to the Convenience Store to buy some beer, Rick asks William if they wanted pizza, which he agrees to, but ask for no mushrooms, Rick asks Will how Amber and Mark do. During the call, Rick is attacked and the call ends.

When Mark takes one of the cyborg's helmet off and finds out it was Rick, but Sinclair told them not to try to talk to him since he had removed his emotions.

Invincible is thrown around while William tries talking to Rick, trying to make him remember how they meet last year summer at the lake and they had sex by the water. The attempts seemingly fail, until Sinclair starts cutting William's arm, which makes Rick recognize him and remove part of his helmet, so he could help Invincible.

Rick is later carried out of the sewer on a stretcher and taken by Cecil Stedman and government forces.

Return and Healing[]

Rick spent several months under the care of the Global Defense Agency who were able to reconstruct his body and largely repair what Sinclair had done to him. By the fall, Rick was finally released from the care of the G.D.A, and was placed under the supervision of his boyfriend at Upstate University.

Despite having been physically healed completely, he still underwent a severe case of P.T.S.D, as he kept having nightmares of his time with Sinclair and was borderline suicidal. One night, Rick attempted suicide by jumping off the roof of the University building, so William contacted Donald Ferguson, who rushed over and had a heart to heart with Rick, as like him he suffered similar fate. Rick began to truly heal as he found optimism over realizing how his resistance towards Sinclair saved many lives, including Williams.

Rick would spend time with William and Mark at the bowling alley. Afterwards they would head back to the car, though Rick would experience some heartaches due to lingering trauma from his experience with Sinclair. When they got into the car, it failed to start, and the two convinced Mark to use his power to fly them and the car all the way back to the university.

After Invincible's falling out with Cecil upon finding out that he had given Sinclair a job at the G.D.A. after his arrest and was using his ReAnimen, he would give the news to Rick and William. Rick expressed shock at how Sinclair was still making monsters even after everything he had done before. Mark wondered if he should have killed Sinclair when he had the chance back then, but Rick reassured him that doing so would have made him as bad as Sinclair.

Powerplex's Attack[]

Rick would be present alongside Mark, Eve, Amber, and Kyle for William's birthday at the bowling alley. All of them were having fun for a while, until they noticed a news broadcast of a supervillain attacking the city.
