Background[]
Argall's Assassination[]
Many eons ago, during the Argall era, Thaedus was born on the planet Viltrum. While most of his roles during Argall's reign that he assisted in are largely unknown, it can be assumed that he was a part of their political governments. Upon reaching a certain age, he realized the heinous ways of his people, no doubt due to Argall's malevolent influence, and became the first Viltrumite to ever betray the empire when he assassinated the First Emperor of the Viltrum Empire and escaped the planet to avoid execution. Because of this act, the empire was in shambles and caused a worldwide survival of the fittest, which led to the rebirth of Viltrum.
Coalition Formation[]

Marvin of Unopa accepts Thaedus' offer to join the Coalition to defeat the Viltrumites.
Eventually, he founded the Coalition of Planets to bring unity to the galaxy and an end to the Viltrumite expansion. He worked with the Unopans to create a being that could possibly best a Viltrumite in combat, which led to the birth of Allen. However, despite Allen failing to match the Viltrumites in combat, Thaedus assigned him to become an evaluation officer for the Coalition, visiting different planets across various galaxies in hopes of finding a warrior strong enough to confront the Viltrumites.

Learning of Invincible[]

Allen approaches the Coalition with great news!
In 2023, when Allen returned to warn the Earthlings that a Viltrumite lives among his people, he was shocked to learn that Earth's current protector, Mark Grayson/Invincible, is also a Viltrumite and that both he and his father battled each other, noting that such a thing hasn't happened since the Great Purge. What shocked him even more was discovering that Mark's father abandoned his mission to conquer Earth, a rare anomaly in a Viltrumite, which he believes they could exploit.
When Thaedus learned that a planet, Aikreon, which had recently joined the coalition, was raided by the Viltrumites, he employed Allen to keep an eye on the coalition, as he believed a mole had infiltrated the organization. Much later, after Allen was grievously wounded, he discovered from General Telia that Allen was still alive. He tried to express remorse for Allen's condition, attributing it to pure luck thanks to the Unopan will. Telia was relieved of her duties to watch over Allen , and instead , Thaedus took over. Before he turned off Allen's life support , he apologized to the comatose Unopan.

Thaedus reveals his identity to Allen.
After Allen eventually awakens and effortlessly destroys the life support machine simply by trying to sit up, Thaedus appears and informs him that he turned off the life support to trigger Allen's adaptive physiology, allowing him to awaken much stronger than before. Thaedus apologizes to Allen for gambling with his life but believes that he is now finally strong enough to fight a Viltrumite on his own. Allen doubts his claim, prompting Thaedus to rip off his beard, revealing himself to be a Viltrumite, much to Allen's shock. Thaedus explains that he was the first to successfully rebel against the Empire (alluding to Argall's demise), and after hearing of Invincible's feats, he orders Allen to bring Invincible to him so that he can meet him in person, as he believes he is the key to finally achieving a swift victory in their war against the Empire.
