Her backstory is largely unknown, as she was born on a planet far from Earth's star system. However, her planet is in critical condition, and Universa concluded that she must steal energy from another planet, Earth.

Staff of Leadership: The Staff of Leadership is a weapon that allows Universa to siphon her powers.
Universa was also the name of an character Invincible video game based on Atom Eve.
They are many rumors to believe, that Universa might be voiced by Krysten Ritter, Rosario Dawson, Ashley Eckstein, Janet Varney, Natalie Portman, Kristen Bell Stephanie Beatriz or Eiza González.
In the comics, Universa's origin star system lies beyond the Observable Universe. Whether or not this will be in the show is unknown as very little of Season 4 is currently known.
Universa's character is similar to the Kree Warlord Dhar-Binn from the Marvels:
In that movie, her planet was damaged from Captain Marvel and nearly uninhabitable, resulting to her drain resources and energy from other worlds to restore the Kree planet.
